The Jefferson Av Station is entirely surrounded by low-rise buildings. It runs through the center of the peaceful residential blocks between two major north-south arteries: Richmond Road and Hylan Boulevard. Hills rise in the distant west. It’s so quiet you can hear bird song. Dogs bark to greet the train.
By the south Station staircase, to the east, a homemade sign is nailed to a tree trunk: Fishin’ Tackle. That’s big business in this laid-back neighborhood.
